An Opportunity

Bass Tim Rhodes and tenor Rob Bateman will be singing with the Nevada Gay Men's Chorus on Friday, June 3 at 7:30 PM at Trinity Episcopal Church, where we used to sing for the Ecumenical Choir Festival. Tickets are $20 for the general public and $15 for seniors and students. More information is available here.

Tim tells me this concert, "Red, White, and Fabulous," will feature the works of American composers such as Moses Hogan (ETA: we sang his "Elijah Rock" at an ECF and got to hear Kathy hit a high C), Aaron Copland, and Randall Thompson. They'll be singing the same Thompson piece I once sang with my choir in the Defense Department; our director always started it by saying, "You're already too loud." You'll see and hear what he meant. Two other things about that director, W. Robert Johnson; he also directed a Maryland choir called the New Century Singers that likewise was devoted to American choral music, and when he emailed us about things others in the choir were doing, the subject line was "An Opportunity."

Anyone else in the choir participating in other musical endeavors? Let me know so I can let everyone else know of that opportunity!
