A Solfege App

(HT: Views From The Choir Loft, Veronica Brandt)

Kathy may not say it every week, but one of the things she always wants us to work on is solfege, solfege, and more solfege, knowing how to figure out notes when we know where DOH is. Well, the fine folks at Corpus Christi Watershed have found a solfege app (!) by Theta Music Technologies. Even if you don't use the app, there's still plenty of training games and programs on the site. Give it a try; it can't make your knowledge of solfege any worse!

Much of it is free, but you can also subscribe for $49 a year and get access to all courses.

Sleep Deprivation

Our Third Sunday of Lent Mass on March 8 at Holy Spirit Mission begins at 8:30 AM, with call time at 7:45 AM. Make sure you're well rested and set your clock ahead an hour the night before; that morning marks the resumption of Daylight Savings Time, when we lose an hour of sleep. |-o

Okay, Forget Everything We Told You (about the schedule, anyway)

Big changes have occurred with the schedule for the rest of the year, the most immediate of which is that we will not be singing this Sunday (Feb. 22) at St. Peter Canisius. The updated calendar is on the upper right-hand corner of the site. Also, the date of the Red Mass at the Cathedral is confirmed for Thursday, April 30.

A big reason for this is our new relationship with new St. Thomas Aquinas Cathedral rector Fr. Jacob Carazo, OFM Conv. Thanks to him, we now have seven Masses to sing for between now and Pentecost, including the Easter Mass that was originally scheduled for Holy Spirit Mission. All will be in the Novus Ordo.

Fact Of The Day: Fr. Jacob was ordained at the Cathedral.
